2nd in class with a 1.56. It's a good result for first round, especially considering that running on street tires, it serves to show how much motorsport development carries over into better tires for street. Now podium ceremony about begin, then home asap! Thx to AE Performance, City Tire and Hankook for full support and great company at the track, u all rock. Detailed writeup soon. Cheers!

Race day!

Today I'm saving on tire temps. Planned a 3 lap run but session got flagged when someone spilled fluid in turn 1. The out and in-lap was enough to check the car and tire pressures though so I'm ready to go, tried all with the setup and can't really do much more on this set of springs and rear tires. Now just waiting for lineup and watching enthusiast and street classes, the crowd etc. Good turnout today, lot's of fun!

Last run of the day
Saturday, March 27, 2010
Windy and track really dusty now, car stayed at 1.57 even though it was a lot more balanced. With clean and cooler track earlier today I ran a 1.55. Will keep working out how to utilize the wider front tires and getting around the car wanting to drift. :)

Session 4
Better balance now but track is hot and feeling a tad dustier so stuck w same laptimes. One session to go today.

Session 3
Track and tires a lot hotter, not faster. Now trying smth different to fix oversteer, still not able to push it at all. Worst case we put a R-comp tire in rear tomorrow. :)

2nd session
Found more grip for rear end so laptimes went down a bit, but car is still a handful, especially at high speed rear end slides out under pressure, so I still have to hold back. Now bleeding brakes and doing more fine tuning.

1st warm-up
Set up laptimer and checked setup. Really a lot of oversteer so made some changes. 2nd session coming up!

21 lbs (9kg) was the weight difference from the GT2 wheels to the CCW wheels that AE Performance is supplying for the Redline season. The weight difference includes complete wheel weights with slightly wider rims and tires up front than OEM GT2. 21 lbs may not sound much, but it really makes a noticable difference in vehicle behavior and response and it definitely adds to better performance under acceleration, braking and turning.
The innocent stock look is now temporarily gone in lieu for a track action look with the black wheels. The prep job for Rd1 is now pretty much done, the only thing left to do before the Saturday test sessions begin is to crank out an additional dozen hp or so by re-calibrating the engine controller for racegas.

Big thanks to Hankook for the fresh Ventus rubber and also a well deserved shout out for the always great support from City Tire with wrapping and balacing the wheels!

News: Team-up with AE Performance
Thursday, March 11, 2010
AE Announces its Involvement in the 2010 Redline Time Attack Season

Both of us representing common partner Hankook Tire, AE Performance and I have entered a new hard-charging team collaboration for the 2010 season of Redline Time Attack with the main target to go for podium positions with full force. Alongside AE Performance's  Redline franchise 'factory' cars and drivers; Paul Dentice in 370Z, Rich Taylor in BMW E92 330 and Paul Walker in BMW E92 M3, AE Performance will also back me in the Porsche with everything from cruical prep work and track support to racewinning tuning parts, in the same way an AE Performance customer car can be tuned, prepped and supported. This collaboration is the perfect example of a 1+1=3 team effort which will enable me to place true focus on driving, datalogging, car setups and producing results while we at the same time will be able to display AE Performance's overall capacity with racing success even greater than in 2009, thereby further enhancing the benefit for everyday customers.

With this I can also officially announce that City Tire - now a Hankook Motorsports Program vendor! - and I have made the decision to keep our focus on Redline Time Attack and other possible racing venues this year, and pass on 2010 Formula D. We are working on a plan to bring the City Tire Formula D Nissan 350Z TT to one or two demo events during 2010 though besides development / testing / practice.

Stay tuned during the last 14 days of AE Performance's preparation for the Redline Time Attack season premiere at Buttonwillow, on this blog and on AE Performance's blog!

Redline Time Attack test day on SpeedTV website

I also have some small silly season updates right now.

- I feel very positive about just having entered into an agreement to run the Porsche Turbo within an established Redline Time Attack team. More details about this team soon but their support will definitely add to my competitiveness and in return I aim to be able put their team name as high up as possible on the laptime sheets.

- The City Tire 350Z Twin Turbo is ready for FD 2010. We have budget for 3 events. FD requires a minimum 5 event registration though so with two weeks to go to register, we currently have the door wide-open for a great deal for a title sponsor, or a few smaller sponsors to jump on board to make our season happen. If we don't have a good budget to run on and to maintain the car properly, we're forgetting about FD this season and instead setting all focus back on grip racing, first of all in Redline Time Attack.

Stay tuned!
